  • December 31, 2006  A  New Year holiday 

    The workers and the volunteers of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” congratulate their colleagues, partners, clients and the visitors of the website with a New Year holiday. We wish you happiness, health and good luck in the coming year. We hope to continue to help the society to be human, educated and healthy together with you.     


    December 12, 2006  Seminar-training “Organisation of social work with the discharged prisoners  living with HIV/AIDS, counseling the prisoners living with HIV/AIDS on the questions of adherence to ARV therapy”.      

    On the 12-14th of December a seminar-training aimed at the specialists of social defence and the workers of the Department of penal system was held by the specialists of the “Siberian Initiative”. 27 participants from different towns and districts of the Altai Territory took part in this seminar: Shipunovo, Biysk, Aleysk, Rubtsovsk, Zalesovo, Volchiha, Barnaul, Novoaltaisk, Jarovoe. The main topics discussed at the seminar were the peculiarities of cooperation between the institutions of the system of social defence and the penal system; ethical aspects of work with the people living with HIV/AIDS; the peculiarities of forming adherence of HIV-infected prisoners; the peculiarities of social work with the discharged prisoners.  


    December 14, 2006 Conference “10 years of harm reduction in Russia: keep on working!”

    Aleksey Starostenko, program director of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the conference held by the Russian Harm Reduction Network: “10 years of harm reduction in Russia: keep on working!”. 


    December 11, 2006. Training “Organisation and management of harm reduction project”

    Aleksey Starostenko, program director of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the  training “Organisation and management of harm reduction project” held by the Russian Harm Reduction Network.


    December 11, 2006 School of a young activist

    Today there was a presentation of the School of a young activist organised by the committee for youth affairs, culture and sport of the city of Barnaul and youth council of the Industrial district of the city of Barnaul. The school is conducted to provide educational level and exchange of information between youth bodies of the city of Barnaul. The school will work till December 22. Six meetings devoted to different topics will be held during this time. Two of them will be conducted by Marina Cherkasova, director of youth programs and Andrei Spirikov, volunteer of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” including the meeting “How to involve and motivate volunteers”.


    December 6, 2006 Conference “Social partnership and development of the institutions of civil society. Experience of regions and municipalities. 

    Veniamin Volnov, chairman of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the conference “Social partnership and development of the institutions of civil society. Experience of regions and municipalities”. The conference was held by the Ministry of trade and economic development of the Russian Federation and the Foundation “Center of strategic plans – region”.


    December 4, 2006. CAF working group

    Veniamin Volnov, chairman of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the CAF working group “Development of a pilot law devoted to cooperation of non-governmental organizations and the state”.  


    November 30, 2006 National public award

    Marina Cherkasova, director of youth programs of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” became a prize winner of the National public award in the sphere of volunteering initiatives 2006, established by the Russian development center of volunteering initiatives (the representative of IAVE), the foundation “Creation” and the Federal fond of social support. The award was established to express public gratitude and recognition for development and support of volunteering initiatives. This award does not provide any profits for the prizewinners. Organisations, initiatives groups and citizens can become prizewinners.       

    Marina has become a prizewinner in nomination “Management / Organisation / Running of volunteering activity”. This prize is awarded to organizations or leaders / managers, workers or volunteers responsible for managing or coordinating of volunteering activity (involvement, education of volunteers, marketing, PR, etc) to raise the effectiveness of the organizational activity.       


    30 ноября 2006 г. Information campaign is over

    Marina Cherkasova, director of youth programs and Julia Pavluk, volunteer of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the closing ceremony of the information campaign “Live safely” conducted in the framework of the International “Y-PEER” Network Development Program under financial support of the UNFPA.

    Marina Cherkasova, director of youth programs of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the round table discussion held by the administration of the Lenin district of the city of Barnaul.     

     


    November 20, 2006  Visit to Germany

    Veniamin Volnov, chairman of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the professional business trip “Cooperation techniques between public organizations and municipal administrations in Germany”. The aim of this business trip was to show the Russian organizations the best German practice in the sphere of the citizens’ participation in decision-making process. The members of the Russian delegation met with the representatives of charitable funds and organizations, deputies of the Bundestag and with the mayor of the city of Jen. The business trip was organized by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF)) in the framework of the program “Development of dialogue between the civil society and the state”.       


    November 18, 2006  Event according to “Dance4life” technology

    Today a team of volunteers of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” conducted the first event according to “Dance4life” technology in the school №106 of the city of Barnaul. The pupils of the 9th, 10th, 11th forms participated in this event. The participants received information about different aspects of HIV/AIDS, statistical data about the spread of the infection and they learnt international dance for life.          


    October 7,  2006  Volunteers are welcome

    The volunteers of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” made a presentation of the organization for the schoolchildren of the 10th and 11th form of the city of Barnaul. The aim of the presentation was to involve new volunteers in realization of preventive programs of the “Siberian Initiative”. The participants of the meeting got information about the activity of the organization about new volunteering projects realized by the “Siberian Initiative”. In the nearest future, it is planned to conduct a seminar devoted to general aspects of HIV/AIDS prevention, a training of trainers and a seminar-training “Work with youth according to Dance4life” technology.        


    October 5, 2006  Visit to Kazan  

    Veniamin Volnov, chairman of the “Siberian Initiative” visited Kazan in the framework of the project “Complex strategies of HIV-prevention among commercial sex workers. The visit was organized by the NGO “AIDSinfoshare” in the framework of the national project in the sphere of health in the year of 2006.   


    September 29, 2006  Training of trainers

    Marina Cherkasova, director of youth programs, Julia Pavluk, Andrei Spirikov, Ekaterina Timonina, the volunteers of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” participated in the training of trainers. The training was held by the Russian Y-PEER Network under the support of UNFPA. The aim of the training was to educate those volunteers who realize peer education programs devoted to health preservation among youth. The participants got information about theatrical and other methods of education of volunteers. 


    September 18, 2006  “Dance4life” project

    The NGO “Siberian Initiative” participated in the educational project “Dance4life!” (“Dance for life”), realized by the fund “Focus-Media”. Marina Cherkasova, director of the youth programs of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the first training held in the framework of this project. The aim of the training was to teach the participants how to work with the regional teams of volunteers using the international Dance4life technology. This training became the start point for development of Dance4life in the regions of the Russian Federation.          

    About the project

    “Dance for life!” is a project aimed to raise the awareness of young people, schoolchildren and adolescents about HIV/AIDS. The fund “4 Life” initiated this project in the Netherlands and the South Africa in the framework of the World AIDS campaign. Now “Dance4life” is a brand of the World AIDS campaign.       

    “Dance4life” is an interactive, positive, energetic and international project whose aim is to give young people opportunity to be active in their struggle against HIV/AIDS. The main instruments of this project are volunteering initiatives, dance and music


    September 18, 2006 Visit of the representative of the NGO “AIDSinfoshare” 

    Irina Kostetskay, the representative of the NGO “AIDSinfoshare” visited the “Siberian Initiative” and the non-commercial partnership “Orion” to monitor the project “Prevention of HIV/AIDS among commercial sex workers” realized in the city of Gorno-Altaisk.   


    September 18, 2006  Victory

    Aleksey Starostenko, program director of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” and a graduate of the exchange program “Open world” was announced as a winner of the photo and graphic works contest “My discovery of America”.     September 14, 2006 Rein Decker visited the “Siberian Initiative”    

    Rein Decker, the second secretary of the Netherlands Embassy visited the “Siberian Initiative” to monitor the project “Strategy of HIV/AIDS, psychoactive drug use prevention among homeless children in the Altai territory”. This project was realized by the “Siberian Initiative” in the framework of the Matra/KAR program.       


    September 10, 2006 Conference in Tomsk

    Tatiana Grishina, a psychologist of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the conference “The perspectives of development of direct services for people living with HIV/AIDS in Siberia” held by the fund “Siberia-Aids-Aid” in the framework of the project “Siberian Network of AIDS service organizations. Support of people living with HIV/AIDS, organization and management of self help groups’ financed by the USAID through the Pact.Inc. The conference took place in the city of Tomsk in September, 10 -15.   The aim of the conference was to raise the effectiveness of the direct services for people living with HIV/AIDS and their relatives in Siberia. At the conference Tatiana Grishina made a report devoted to the project results in the Altai territory and the peculiarities of the direct services for PLWA      


    September 6, 2006 Training on advocacy and mass media

    On the 6th of September Aleksey Starostenko, program director of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the training held by the Hungarian organization working in the sphere of human rights. The training took place in the city of Budapest. It was devoted to mass media and advocacy in the sphere of violations of human rights of marginal groups.


    September 1, 2006  Birthday of the "Siberian Initiative"  

    On the 1st of September the “Siberian Initiative” celebrated its 11th birthday. The partners, sponsors and volunteers congratulated the organization on this holiday. On this day, the workers of the organization summed up the results of the previous year and discussed the plans for the future.   


    August 31,  2006  Interregional conference devoted to youth policy

    Veniamin Volnov, the chairman of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the interregional conference “Youth policy at the municipal level. The perspectives of development”. The conference was held by the Committee for Youth Affairs of the administration of the city of Barnaul under the information support of the association of the Siberian and the Far East cities.          


    August 22, 2006  Meeting of the East European youth network

    Veniamin Volnov, the chairman of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took an active part in the annual meeting of the East European network. The meeting took place in the city of Sudak (Ukraine) in August, 22-26. The questions devoted to prevention of HIV infection were discussed at the meeting.


    August 20, 2006  The volunteers of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the  forum of volunteering organizations.  

    Marina Chercasova, director of the youth programs, the volunteers Julia Pavluk and Andrei Spirikov represented the NGO “Siberian Initiative” at the forum of volunteering organizations. The forum took place in the city of Minusinsk in August, 20-23 and was held by the center of German Culture under the support GTZ Novosibirsk. The volunteers took part in the work of four master classes: “Organisational development of volunteering movement”, “Team building”, “Technology of social advertisement” “How to work with the audience”.             


    August 13, 2006  The VI International Conference on HIV/AIDS

    Tatiana Mazaylova, director on work with marginal groups of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the International conference on HIV/AIDS.

    The conference took place in Toronto (Canada) in August, 13-18. The slogan of the conference was “Time to deliver”. This slogan reflected the hope of the AIDS service organisations that the medicines aimed to control the development of HIV virus in the body would be available for people in poor countries

    26 thousand people representing more than 10 thousand organisationds of the world   participated in the conference.

     Toni Clement, the minister of health of Canada, Richard Gir, a famous actor, Bill and Melinda Gates took part in the opening session of the conference.      


    Summer school for volunteers - 2006 is over

    Summer school for volunteers – 2006 was held in July 24-28, for young volunteers working in the sphere of health protection and youth development. Traditionally this event was held by the NGO “Siberian Initiative” under the support of the Ministry of health and social development of the Russian Federation. 103 participants from 21 territories of the Russian Federation took part in this event.  The volunteers from the Sakhalin, Rostov, Stavropol territory, Primorski Krai, Karelia and Komi Republic participated in the work of the school for the first time.

    The program of the school consisted of master-classes, trainings, excursions,   and evening events. The participants could take part in the following sections: “Organisational aspects of the volunteering programs”, “Spiritual life and health”, “Communication in training. Work with difficult participants”, “Assessment and monitoring of the volunteering programs and projects”.                

    At the master-class “Spiritual life and health” facilitated by Kholodkova Aleksandra, vice-chairman of the NGO “Annunciation”, the participants discussed such questions as:what spiritual life is?; can spiritual life be destructive?; how is spiritual life connected with health and freedom?; what kind of attitude should be towards illness, death and treatment?; how can religion help to accept the diagnosis of the incurable disease.  

    The master-class “Communication in training. Work with difficult participants.” was very useful. The master-class was facilitated by Janna Berg, the head of the regional public fund “Kuzbass against drugs”.   At the master-class the participants discussed different aspects of relationships between a trainer and a participant and discussed the most typical difficult situations and possible variants of solving the conflicts and problems.  

    The section “Organisational aspects of the volunteering programs” aimed at the coordinators of volunteering programs was held for the first time. At the section the following issues were touched upon: “How to receive an answer from the politicians: involvement of the deputies in the initiatives devoted to HIV/AIDS” and “Present approaches towards organization of preventive work in the educational system”.    

    Specially invited guests Denis Torhov, deputy chief on research and analysis of the “Transatlantic Partners against AIDS” (Moscow) and Andrei Gerish, the main specialist of the Department of social and pedagogical support and rehabilitation of children of the Ministry of science and education of the Russian Federation (Moscow) covered these issues. Alessandro Vitale (Milan, Italy), the head of the youth volunteering organization took an active part in the work of the school.

    April 29, 2006  Event in the regional children’s ophthalmological hospital

    The volunteers of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” visited the regional children’s ophthalmological hospital. During their visit the volunteers spoke with the children, organized entertaining contests and rewarded the winners with presents. This event was held in the framework of the Spring week of good deeds – 2006.


    April 27, 2006  “KVN Altai”

    Today the volunteers of the “Siberian Initiative” took part in one forth of the “KVN Altai” final. The volunteers disseminated information products devoted to HIV/AIDS and conducted the game “Catalyzator”.      


    April 22, 2006    “Social star”

    The volunteers of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” Julia Pavluk, Ekaterina Bochkareva and Ekaterina Timonina took part in the regional competition “Social star”.  This event was organized by the NGO “Public initiatives support center”, the main department of social defence of the administration of the Altai territory, the department of education and youth affairs and the department of culture of the Altai territory administration.      


    April 22, 2006  Visit to the children’s home № 6

    In the framework of the Spring week of good deeds – 2006 volunteers of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” visited the children’s home №6. The volunteers organized the game “Kaleidoscope” and several contests for the children. The visit ended with the joint view of the film “Garfield


    April 17, 2006  Working meeting of the REACH project participants

    Aleksey Starostenko, program director of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the working meeting of the REACH project participants.  The project results and the plans for further joint activity were discussed at the meeting. 


    April 17, 2006 School of social moderators

At the conference Veniamin made a report “Civic initiatives in realization of the city program “Reproductive health of children and adolescents”.


    April 4, 2006  Agenda for the public chamber  

    Veniamin Volnov, chairman of the NGO “Siberian Initiative”, took part in the public discussion “Agenda for the public chamber”. This discussion was held by the Altai department of the Agency of social information, the Altai department of the Russian public political center, the NGO “Public initiatives support center”.       


     

    March 28, 2006 Final conference «Comprehensive Partnership Strategies for HIV/STI Prevention in the Russian Federation»

    Aleksey Starostenko, Program Director of the NGO «Siberian Initiative», took part in the conference «Comprehensive Partnership Strategies for HIV/STI Prevention among young people in the Russian Federation: from results towards perspectives». At the conference Aleksey made a presentation of the results of the project realized by the «Siberian Initiative» in conjunction with the UNICEF.  


    March 26, 2006 Study tour to France

    Veniamin Volnov, Chairman of the NGO «Siberian Initiative», took part in the study tour to France. The aim of the tour was to study work experience of the French governmental and non-governmental organizations in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention. The tour was organized in the framework of the activity of the Coordination Council on HIV/AIDS of the Ministry of health and social development of the Russian Federation under the support of the project «GLOBUS».  


    March 24, 2006 General meeting of the members of the RHRN

    Aleksey Starostenko, Program Director of the NGO «Siberian Initiative», took part in the meeting of the members of the Russian Harm Reduction Network. The new members and the chairman of the Council of the RHRN were chosen at the meting. They are Blinova O., Juma V, Markarjan L. Rylkov A. is the chairman.   


    March 13, 2006 Seminar for the specialists of the system of social defence of the Altai territory  

    The specialists of the NGO «Siberian Initiative» Veniamin Volnov, Aleksey Starostenko, Tatiana Mazailova conducted the seminar devoted to the methods of conducting trainings on HIV/AIDS, STI and drug use prevention among homeless children. 17 specialists from different institutions of the system of social defence (shelters for children and teenagers, crisis centers) took part in the seminar. The seminar was held under the support of the main department of social defence of the administration of the Altai territory. The training was held in the framework of the project «Development of HIV, STI and drug use prevention model among homeless children in the Altai territory» (the Matra/KPA program).

    December 25, 2005.  Meeting of the volunteers

    Today the volunteers of the “Siberian Initiative” will meet to sum up the results of their work for the year 2005 and to celebrate the New Year holiday.  


    December 23, 2005.  Working meeting on Harm Reduction project

    Today the NGO “Siberian Initiative” held the final working meeting on Harm Reduction project. This project has been realized in three towns of the Altai territory in the year 2004-2005 and was supported by WHO. The participants of the meeting were the head doctors of the AIDS centers of the Altai territory and the workers of Harm Reduction project from Barnaul, Biysk, Rubtsovsk. At the meeting there were discussed the results of the project and worked out the plans for further development of the project in the region.      


    December 21, 2005. Visit of the consultant  

    Today E. Petunin, a technical consultant of the World Health Organization begins his visit to the Altai territory. E. Petunin will visit the needle exchange stations in Barnaul and Rubtsovsk, meet with the workers of Harm Reduction program and give recommendations on improvement of the work of harm reduction program in the Altai territory.     


    December 20, 2005. Harm Reduction program in Biysk   

    Veniamin Volnov, Chairman and Tatiana Bakulina, Director on work with vulnerable groups visited the needle exchange station in Biysk. They met with the workers of the program “Harm reduction. Biysk.”, gave recommendations on improvement of the work and discussed the further plans of realization of the program in the town. 


    September, 28th, 2005. American Volunteers Arrive in Barnaul.

    Today, volunteers from America begin their work in the NGO “Siberian Initiative”.  Emily Feder, Peter Iversen and Megan Busky are volunteers of the American Council on International Researches and Exchanges (IREX). They have come to Russia from three different states in America: New York, Iowa and Ohio. In the NGO “Siberian Initiative” Emily, Peter and Megan will work on three projects: organizing work on home care of HIV/AIDS-positive people, possible organization of hospice work for AIDS-positive people and work with hard-to-reach populations. The volunteers visit will last for seven weeks. The American volunteers work and stay in Barnaul became possible because of the program “Russian-American Volunteer Initiative” sponsored by IREX.


    September, 27th, 2005. Work Renews in a Local Jail.

    The psychologist and the specialist for social work of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” have started to work in the jail again after a summer break. A study for a new group of HIV-positive prisoners was conducted.


    September, 26th, 2005. Round Table Discussion on the Prevention of Narcotics Addiction.

    Veniamin Volnov, Chairman of the NGO “Siberian Initiative”, took part at the round table on the prevention of narcotics addiction, which was organized by the Youth Affairs Committee of the Administration of Barnaul.


    September, 21th, 2005. Conference on the Volunteer Movement.

    Aleksey Starostenko, Program Director and Marina Cherkasova, Youth Programs Director of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the conference “The Volunteering Movement in Russia: Reality and Perspectives” in Saint Petersburg.


    September, 19th, 2005. The Meeting of the Coordinating Council on HIV/AIDS Problems.

    Veniamin Volnov, Chairman of the NGO “Siberian Initiative”, took part in the meeting of the Coordinating Council on HIV/AIDS problems of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russain Federation.


    September, 14th, 2005.  An Educational Seminar on HIV/AIDS Prevention.

    “Siberian Initiative” conducted the seminar “Different Aspects of HIV/AIDS and Psychoactive Substances Prevention” from the 14th  to 16th of September. The specialists from the Youth Affairs Committees, the art centers for children, and participants of non-governmental organizations from ten regions of the Altai Krai and the Altai Republic participated in the seminar. During the seminar the participants received information about HIV/AIDS and narcotics addiction, methods of HIV/AIDS transmission, methods of disease prevention among youth and other at risk groups in the population.


    September, 12th, 2005.

    Veniamin Volnov, Chairman of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” participated in the seminar “Skills of Effective Management in the Sphere of HIV/AIDS Prevention”. The seminar was conducted in the frames of the project “The Complex Strategies on Prevention of HIV and STD Spread Among Youth in the Russian Federation”.


    September, 5th , 2005.  Conference on Palliative Care.

    Tatyana Grishina, a psychologist in the NGO “Siberian Initiative”, took active part in the national, scientific conference, “Palliative Care for HIV/AIDS”. The NGO “AIDSinfoshare” organized the conference, which was conducted in Moscow.


    September, 7th, 2005. Business meeting on the “Harm reduction” program.

    There was a business meeting of city managers on the “Harm reduction” program. During the meeting the following questions were discussed: current activity, valuation of program effectiveness and its perspectives.


    September, 6th, 2005. Is the regional law of NGOs with governing bodies collabiration necessary?

    Veniamin Volnov, Chairman of the NGO “Siberian Initiative”, took part in the round table “Is the Law of  Non-Governmental Organizations with the Governing and Local Bodies Collaboration Necessary in the Region?” Veniamin Volnov presented the report “Rationality of Collaboration in the Context of Carrying out Reforms of the Law” during the round table.


    September, 1st, 2005. The tenth anniversary of the NGO “Siberian Initiative”

    This day marks the tenth anniversary of the NGO “Siberian Initiative”. In the period of work the specialists of the “Siberian Initiative” have realized 36 prominent projects directed at the preservation of the population’s health and development of civic initiatives in the Altai region and other territories of the Russian Federation. There are more than 50 titles of  brochures, books and booklets on HIV/AIDS, drug-using prevention, on healthy lifestyle, on organization of preventive activity, on non-governmental organizations development.

    The NGO “Siberian Initiative” works according to two main directions: HIV-infection prevention among the population and non-governmental sector development. Now the organization is realizing 5 projects on HIV/AIDS prevention, youth informational centers development and offering facilities for the youth civic initiatives realization in different regions of the Altai region and the Republic of Altai. The organization regulary conducts conferences, trainings and seminars for schoolchildren, students, members of non-governmental organizations and different specialists in the sphere of health protection. During five years the NGO “Siberian Initiative” has conducted the summer volunteering school, the aim of which is volunteering initiatives development in Russia.

    For ten years the specialists of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” have obtained serious recognition of their services. For two years the Ministry of Health and social development of the RF have given means to the organization for conducting the summer volunteering school. The NGO “Siberian Initiative” constantly co-operates with the Altai governmental center in the struggle against AIDS and other deseases, Health protection commettees of the Administration of Barnaul, Youth Parlament of Barnaul and others.     August, 26th, 2005. The anniversary summer volunteering school – 2005  has finished work today.

    The regional non-governmental organization “Siberian Initiative” conducted its fifth all-Russian summer volunteering school from August 22nd to 26th in Gorny Altai. The summer volunteering school was suported by the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation, the United Nations Children’s Fund, the Committee of Federal service for drug control in the Altai region, the NGO “AIDSinfoshare” (Moscow), the project “Mother and child” of the corporation “Jon Snow, Inc.”

    110 volunteers and members of organizations were participants of the summer volunteering school. They are engaged in the prevention of socially transmitted deseases and the promotion of healthy life styles. They are from 18 regions of the Russian Federation (the Altai region, Moscow, the Kaluzhskaya oblast, the Kemerovskaya oblast, the Krasnoyarsky krai, the Republics of  Tatarstan, Khakassia, Ingushetia, Chechnia and others).

    Traditionally the program of the School included many parts: the first part of the day – education and workshops; the second part of the day – walking, rafting, excursions, rest and entertaining engagements for participants in the evening. The main directions of the work of the summer volunteering school in 2005 were: “The basis of the journalistic activity”, “ The basis of sociological researches in HIV/AIDS prevention”, “The psychology of influence” and “The organizational development of volunteering activity”.

    The first time during the summer voluntering school the participants took part in focus-groups, according to the results of which the specialists of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” will make a report about volunteering initiatives development in the sphere of HIV/AIDS. The report will be presented in the foreseeable future of Co-ordinating Council on HIV/AIDS at the Ministry of Health and social development of the Russian Federation. Sussane Drucborg, counsellor for the United Nations HIV/AIDS programs took part in the work of the summer volunteering school.


    August, 11th, 2005. The youth centers development project.

    The NGO “Siberian Initiative” has begun realization of  the new project “Youth Informational Centers as a Mechanism of Youth and Civil Society Initiatives Realization, directed at solving HIV/AIDS problems, STDs and drug-using prevention”. Realization of the project will be supported by the “Siberian civic initiatives support center” and the international development agency of the USA.

    The NGO’s “Siberian Initiative” proposal was approved by the Democracy Commission of the US Embassy in the Russian Federation. Since August the organization will begin realization of the project “Development of the Youth Volunteering Initiatives for HIV-infection/drug-using/STDs prevention” in ten areas of the Altai region.


    September, 7th, 2005. Business meeting on the “Harm reduction” program.

    There was a business meeting of city managers on the “Harm reduction” program. During the meeting the following questions were discussed: current activity, valuation of program effectiveness and its perspectives.


    September, 6th, 2005. Is the regional law of NGOs with governing bodies collabiration necessary?

    Veniamin Volnov, Chairman of the NGO “Siberian Initiative”, took part in the round table “Is the Law of  Non-Governmental Organizations with the Governing and Local Bodies Collaboration Necessary in the Region?” Veniamin Volnov presented the report “Rationality of Collaboration in the Context of Carrying out Reforms of the Law” during the round table.


    September, 1st, 2005. The tenth anniversary of the NGO “Siberian Initiative”

    This day marks the tenth anniversary of the NGO “Siberian Initiative”. In the period of work the specialists of the “Siberian Initiative” have realized 36 prominent projects directed at the preservation of the population’s health and development of civic initiatives in the Altai region and other territories of the Russian Federation. There are more than 50 titles of  brochures, books and booklets on HIV/AIDS, drug-using prevention, on healthy lifestyle, on organization of preventive activity, on non-governmental organizations development.

    The NGO “Siberian Initiative” works according to two main directions: HIV-infection prevention among the population and non-governmental sector development. Now the organization is realizing 5 projects on HIV/AIDS prevention, youth informational centers development and offering facilities for the youth civic initiatives realization in different regions of the Altai region and the Republic of Altai. The organization regulary conducts conferences, trainings and seminars for schoolchildren, students, members of non-governmental organizations and different specialists in the sphere of health protection. During five years the NGO “Siberian Initiative” has conducted the summer volunteering school, the aim of which is volunteering initiatives development in Russia.

    For ten years the specialists of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” have obtained serious recognition of their services. For two years the Ministry of Health and social development of the RF have given means to the organization for conducting the summer volunteering school. The NGO “Siberian Initiative” constantly co-operates with the Altai governmental center in the struggle against AIDS and other deseases, Health protection commettees of the Administration of Barnaul, Youth Parlament of Barnaul and others.     July 4, 2005   Summer School for volunteers – 2005

    The NGO “Siberian Initiative” plans to hold the fifth Summer School for volunteers in August, 2005. Its goal is to popularize the ideas of volunteering movement, provide the conditions for information and experience exchange among volunteers working in the sphere of health protection in different regions of Russian Federation.     

    The main trends of work of the school are: “Organisational development”, “Public Relations”, “Leadership”, “Psychology of influence”. As a rule the program of the school will consist of three parts.     June 28, 2005  The authorities of the Altai territory intend to cooperate with the public organizations

    Aleksey Starostenko, Program Director of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the meeting “Ways of cooperation. A new stage of partnership in social sphere”. Viktor Retenko, the first deputy chief of the Altai territory Department for social help and reduction of the harm caused by nuclear tests in Semipalatinsk and the representatives of public organisations took part in the discussion. At the meeting there were discussed the results of cooperation for the year 2004 in the sphere of social help and support of family and children. There were worked out 5 directions of joint work of the administration and non-commercial organisations including development of the system of funding of the call for proposals, social programs and projects aimed at family and children, round table discussions, educational and presentational events for the specialists working in the sphere of social service and others.    


    June 26, 2005    Holiday  “Youth for healthy life style”

    Today, the volunteers of the NGO “Siberian Initiative”take part in the event devoted to the International day for struggle against illicit drug use. It will take place in the park “Emerald” of the city of Barnaul. The slogan of the event is “Youth for healthy life style. The goal of this event is popularization of healthy life style among youth. At the event the volunteers will distribute information products, souvenirs and conduct contests devoted to the questions of health. The organizers of the event are: the NGO “Siberian Initiative”, the Altai regional branch of the International association for struggle against drug use and drug business, administration of the city of Barnaul, Federal agency for drug control in the Altai territory.       


    June 24, 2005   The seminar devoted to reform of public authority

    Veniamin Volnov, the Chairman of the Board of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the seminar “Dialogue between the governing bodies and civil organizations under the existing reform of public authority” held in the framework of the program “Development of dialogue between civil society and the state” CAF.


    June 24, 2005   10 years of the Siberian civic initiatives support center

    Aleksey Starostenko, program director of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the event devoted to the tenth anniversary of the Siberian civic initiatives support center and the eighth anniversary of the NGO “Public initiatives support center”. At the meeting Aleksey Starostenko made a presentation devoted to the activity of “Siberian Initiative” and the role of the Siberian civic initiatives support center in the development of the organization.


    June 21, 2005   A new issue of the bulletin “Friend”

    The NGO “Siberian Initiative” published the next issue of the bulletin”Friend” aimed at people living with HIV/AIDS. The main topics of the issue are: the Candlelight Memorial 2005 and violence against HIV-infected women. For the first time some psychological tests are published in the bulletin. The aim of these tests is to diversify the contents of the bulletin and help the readers to find out more information about themselves. The bulletin will be distributed through the AIDS centers, in the groups of self-help and in prison among HIV-infected people.

    June 20, 2005   Project presentation for the call for proposals “Youth initiatives”  

    Marina Cherkasova, director of youth programs of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” presented the project “Interactive information course “Live healthy” for the call for proposals “Youth initiatives” announced by the Public initiatives support center and the Department for youth affairs of the city of Barnaul.


    June 20,  2005    Project “Knowledge for action”

    The NGO “Siberian Initiative” participates in the project “Knowledge for action” realized by Imperial College (London). In the framework of this project Andrey Timoshkin, a scientist of the Public Health Management Center visited the NGO “Siberian Initiative”. The aim of his visit is to organize the data collection on utilization of the resources aimed at HIV prevention. The investigation results will be used to develop a mathematical model to estimate the effectiveness of the preventive actions.    


    June 9, 2005  The results of the research conducted in risk behavior groups will be discussed by the specialists  

    Veniamin Volnov, the Chairman of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the working meeting devoted to the results of the research of the second generation HIV surveillance conducted in the Altai territory. This research was conducted among the injecting drug users, commercial sex workers and the prisoners. The participants of the meeting discussed the results and worked out the recommendations how to use them. The research was held in the framework of the project “Comprehensive partnership strategies for HIV/STI prevention among young people in the Russian Federation”.

    Veniamin Volnov, the Chairman of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the round table discussion held by the Department for youth affairs of the city administration of Barnaul The complex program “Youth of Barnaul (2005-2010)” was discussed at the round table.


    May 12, 2005 Candlelight Memorial  2005 in prison

    Today, the specialists and volunteers of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” conducted the event devoted to the Candlelight Memorial 2005 in prison. 350 prisoners took part in this event. The volunteers of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” told about Candlelight Memorial, about famous people died from AIDS, about the tradition to make quilts by the relatives and friends of the died from AIDS The HIV – infected prisoners gave the “Siberian Initiative” the quilt made by them for the Candlelight Memorial 2005.  After the event the priest Vecheslav Dankin served for the dead and prayed for health for the sick people. The service was held in the church recently opened in the territory of the prison.        


    May 13, 2005 A round table discussion  

    Veniamin Volnov took an active part in the round table discussion devoted to realization of the program “Preservation of reproductive health of teenagers and youth of the city of Barnaul”.      The specialists of the Department for education, Youth Affairs, Health and the workers of the crisis centers for men and women, the Youth Parliament of the city of Barnaul and the representatives of the corporation “John Snow, Ink” (USA) took part in the round table discussion

    The workers of harm reduction program of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” will take part in the training held in Balakovo from May, 14 - 22. The training will be held in the framework of the joint project realized by the NGO “Siberian Initiative” and WHO

      The program “Leadership in action”

    In May 15-22, Veniamin Volnov, the Chairman of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the intensive training course held in the framework of the program “Leadership in action”. The participants will be taught how to conduct a training according to the program of leadership development methodology. The training is held by the United Nations Development Program.

    Veniamin Volnov, the Chairman and Aleksey Starostenko, Program Director of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” conducted a training devoted to HIV/AIDS and drug use prevention in the town of Aleisk.  The participants of the training were the students of the vocational school № 43. The training was held due to support of the administration of the town of Aleisk.

      Convention on the Rights of the Child

    Today, the NGO “Siberian Initiative” gave 100 units of Convention of the Rights of the Child to the Public – counseling center of the administration of the city of Barnaul. The center plans to disseminate these information products among the organizations and the population of the city of Barnaul.

    Grishina Tatiana, a psychologist of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” conducted a master – class for the volunteers of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” devoted to  psychoactive substances and the consequences of their use.


    April 8, 2005  Information products for the public organisation “Annunciation”  

    The NGO “Siberian Initiative” prepared the handouts for the public organisation “Annunciation”, who will conduct a seminar devoted to HIV-infection.  The seminar will be held in the town of Zarinsk and aimed at the priests. The set of handouts is consist of the booklets devoted to HIV-infection and produced by the NGO “Siberian Initiative” and “Focus – Media”. Among them there are the booklets “Palliative care”, “Hepatitis”, “HIV/AIDS”, “How to inform about the diagnose”, “How life with HIV is changing”.   


    April 9, 2005       Seminar for journalists  

    Veniamin Volnov, the Chairman of the NGO “Siberian Initiative”  conducted a master class devoted to HIV-infection for the students of the Altai Academy of Law and Economy. The master-class was conducted in the framework of the project realized by the public organisation “Young journalists of Altai”.


    April 14, 2005   Victory in the contest “A crystal orange”

    Anastasia Solntseva, PR-specialist became a prize winner of the YI All-Russian student contest in the field of public relations development (www.crystalorange.ru). The work Information campaign HIV-reality. Make a protection!” won first place in nomination “Public relations in social sphere”   


    April 16, 2005  Training devoted to work with CSW

    Veniamin Volnov, Chairman and Aleksey Starostenko, Program Director of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” conducted the training “Organisation of work with CSW in harm reduction program”. The training was held in the framework of the project “Globe” by the NGO “AIDSinfoshare”         


    April 18, 2005   March  “It is popular to be a volunteer!”  

    Volunteers of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the march held in the framework of the Spring Week of Good. The slogan of this march was “It is popular to be a volunteer”. Volunteers walked along the main street of the town, screamed out the slogans devoted to healthy life stile and gave the children balloons as presents.


    April 19, 2005   Seminar devoted to Fee for Service in Kemerovo  

    Anastasia Solntseva, PR-specialist of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the seminar devoted to the methods of conducting the seminar “Fee foe service” for the trainers of Siberian network The seminar was held in the framework of the program “Next Wave” by Evgeny Machnev and Anatoly Zabolotny.


    Apri 19, 2005  Meeting with the representative of the church of the town of Novoaltaisk. 

    The workers of “Siberian Initiative” met with the priest of the Snt. George cathedral of the town of Novoaltaisk. At the meeting there were discussed the questions of joint work of the priest Vecheslav and the NGO “Siberian Initiative” including work with volunteers, Candelight Memorial 2005, work with prisoners.


    April 25, 2005 Visit of the expert

    Today, Mr.Petunin, the technical consultant of the World Health Organisation begins his visit to the Altai territory. Mr. Petunin will visit the needle exchange stations in Barnaul, Biysk, Rubtsovsk, meet with the representatives of the target group and give recommendations how to improve the current work of harm reduction project. 


    April 26, 2005 Visit to Biysk and Rubtsovsk  

    Nina Chukmasova, coordinator of harm reduction project of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” and Evgeny Petunin, the technical consultant of the World Health Organization visited the towns of Biysk and Rubtsovsk. The specialists met with the workers of AIDS centers, narcological clinics, with the representatives of health departments of the towns’ administration. In Rubtsovsk there was held a round table where the specialists discussed the preliminary results of the project.


    April 30, 2005  Training in Balakovo

    The workers of harm reduction program realized by the NGO “Siberian Initiative” will take part in the training held in Balakovo from April, 30 till May, 8. The training will be held in the framework of the joint project realized by the NGO “Siberian Initiative” and WHO.

    The REACH project monitoring

    Olga Gulaeva, the project coordinator of the Tomsk Charitable Public Fund “visited the NGO “Siberian Initiative”. The aim of the visit is to monitor the project “Siberian network of AIDS service organisations. Support of people living with HIV/AIDS, management and development of self-help groups”. Olga will meet with the specialists who implemented the project in the Altai territory and will visit the prison.


    March 28, 2005 Volunteers of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” conducted a training on HIV/AIDS.

    Today the volunteers of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” conducted a training devoted to HIV/AIDS for school children and students of vocational schools of the city of Barnaul.   The training was held for the volunteers of the center of medical and social adaptation for teenagers “UNICS”. The following questions were discussed at the training: HIV/AIDS, the stages of disease development,  ways of transmission, the world, country and regional statistics.  The volunteers of the center “UNICS” put a lot of questions and took an active part in the discussion. The leaders of the seminar told about the activity of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” and its volunteering programs. The participants of the seminar received information products devoted to HIV/AIDS.  


    March 28, 2005 Round Table Discussion

    Marina Chercasova, the coordinator of the work of volunteers of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the Round Table discussion “ Youth to Barnaul”. The Round Table was held by the Committee for Youth Affairs of the Lenin district of the city of Barnaul. About one hundred people took part in the Round Table discussion. The participants discussed the urgent problems of the youth. and made recommendations to the program “Youth to Barnaul” which will be implemented up to the year 2010.    


    March 26, 2005 The seminar “Work with foundations”

    On March 26-27, Volnov Veniamin will conduct a seminar devoted to work with foundations for the deputies of the Youth Parliament of the city of Barnaul. The following questions will be discussed at the seminar: the classification of foundations, the budget of the project, writing a proposal, project assessment and monitoring. This is the first seminar in the framework of the long-lasting cooperation of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” and the Department of Youth Affairs of the City Administration.


    March 21, 2005 Training of Trainers

    On March 21-27 Volnov Veniamin, the Chairman and Starostenko Alexey, the Program Director of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” will conduct a training for trainers: “Trainers: professional and personal consciousness” The aim of this training is to present the new concepts which lighten a trainer’s work with a human nature and to provide deep realization the participants’ strong points as professionals and to help to acquire much more self-reliance. During the training the participants will get information about the peculiarities of the group dynamics, about methodological instruments of a trainer’s work, about seminar planning. The trainers of the seminar will focus on self-consciousness and personal development. The participants of the training are the specialists from governmental and non-governmental organisations of the Altai territory and Volgogradskaya Oblast. The training is held in the framework of the project supported by the World Health Organisation.          


    March 17, 2005 Program “Leadership in action”  

    Volnov Veniamin, the Chairman of the NGO “Siberian Initiative”, participated in the final seminar of the program “Leadership in action – for Russia without AIDS”. This two day seminar was held with the help of the methods represented at the previous seminars. Special attention was paid to the following aspects: to hold the situation confidently by discussing skillfully, an inspired action  as an effective method to overcome obstacles, to master the skills of transformation leadership. The seminar was held by the United Nations Development Program and the United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS.  


    March 17, 2005 A working meeting on the project “Siberian Commonwealth in prevention of HIV/AIDS”

    Today, a working meeting on the project “Siberian Commonwealth in prevention of HIV/AIDS” begins its work in Barnaul. The meeting is held by the NGO “Siberian Initiative”. The participants of the meeting are the representatives of 6 non-governmental organisations of Siberian Federal Area. 


    March 15, 2005 A new interactive course on HIV/AIDS “Living healthy»

    In April the regional non-governmental organisation “Siberian Initiative” will start a series of exhibitions “Living healthy” in educational institutions of the city of Barnaul.  The idea of such exhibitions is the continuation of the project “The safe rout” realized by “Siberian Initiative” in 2004.

    In the framework of the project “The safe route” the volunteers of the “Siberian initiative” conducted more than 40 exhibitions of the interactive and information course under the same title. More than 2000 people from the towns and districts of the Altai territory visited the exhibitions in the year of 2004. Last year the project was supported by GTZ (German society for technical cooperation). This year the NGO “Siberian Initiative” transmitted this project to the Altai regional AIDS center. Having analyzed the experience received, the advantages and shortcomings of the exhibition as a preventive technique, the specialists and volunteers of “Siberian Initiative” worked out a new and improved information course “Living healthy”         The interactive course “Living healthy” is a combination of a mobile information exhibition and an educational game. Its aim is a primary HIV, alcohol and drug use prevention and development of tolerance.      

    The new information course consists of 5 stations: “Ways of HIV transmission”, “HIV/AIDS: Questions and Answers”, “Addictions”, “Psychoactive substances”, “Tolerance”. These stations give information which make young people think.

    While “The safe route” exhibition demanded expensive equipment and a lot of time to install it, the exhibition “Living healthy” is mobile and does not demand any special equipment and the time to prepare it.   

    In April the volunteers of “Siberian Initiative” will begin to conduct the information course “Living healthy” in educational institutions of Вarnaul.  The specialists of “Siberian Initiative” plan to submit this program for consideration to the Ministry of health and social development and the Ministry of education and science of Russian Federation.

    Volnov Veniamin, the Chairman of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” facilitated a regular meeting of the program participants “Leadership in action” realized by the United Nations Development Program.  


    March 6, 2005 The party “The spring dreams...Let us only have a dream about HIV”

    Today, the volunteers of “Siberian Initiative” organised a party in the night club “Pilot”. The party is called “ The spring dreams...Let us only have a dream about HIV”. A special station of dream interpretation worked during the party and the visitors could get information about their dreams and health. Musical sets alternated with different entertainment contests. 20 volunteers took part in preparation of the party. 300 young people visited this party.


    March 2, 2005 The seminar devoted to promotion of coalitions. 

    Volnov Veniamin, the Chairman and Solntseva Anastasia, PR-specialist of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” conducted the training “Promotion of coalitions”. The training was aimed at the representatives of the coalitions of the town of Zarinsk. The customer of the seminar was the Altai regional public organisation “Civic initiatives support center”.

    The seminar “Development of Fee for Service for Nonprofits”

    Alexey Starostenko, Program Director, and Svetlana Virodova, the chief accountant of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the seminar “Development of Fee for Service for Nonprofits”.      The seminar funded by the United States Agency for International Development was held in Perm.


    February 24, 2005 “ KVN Cup” with competitions from volunteers    

    The volunteers of “Siberian Initiative” took part in the “KVN Cup” held by the Barnaul State Pedagogical University. The “KVN Cup” was conducted in the night club “Zebra”. The volunteers of “Siberian Initiative” conducted a few contests and spread information and souvenir products in the night club.


    February 22, 2005 The priests of the Altai territory help HIV-infected people.   

    The prior of the Znamensky women’s nunnery Sergey conducted a 2 day seminar for the priests of the Barnaul diocese. The seminar was conducted on behalf of the regional public organisation “Annunciation” and supported by the NGO “Siberian Initiative”. As the prior Sergey said: “a priest is a person to whom people apply for advice and spiritual help... for the priest to be able to render spiritual help he must know the psychological peculiarities and specific character of this disease”. It was the fist seminar for the priests.


    February 21, 2005 The program “Leadership” in Barnaul

    Veniamin Volnov, the Chairman of the Board of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” facilitated a meeting of the program participants “Leadership in action” implemented by UNDP.


    February 20, 2005 Press conference with Lolita Milavskaya

    Today, a press conference with a famous singer and actress Lolita Milavskaya took place in the office of the NGO “Siberian Initiative”. The press conference was devoted to Lolita’s first concert in the Altai territory. During her staying in Barnaul, Lolita visited the children’s regional hospital and gave the children presents. The volunteers of “Siberian Initiative” helped Lolita to conduct this social action.

    Volnov Veniamin, the Chairman of the Board of the NGO “Siberian Initiative”  took part in the meeting of Coordinating Council on the problems of HIV/AIDS of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of Russian Federation.

    The seminar “Coalitions”

    Public initiatives support center conducted a seminar for the representatives of the coalitions of the city of Barnaul. The aim of the seminar was to give information about modern PR technologies and their use in the work of coalitions. The seminar was held by Anastasia Solntseva, PR specialist of the NGO “Siberian Initiative”. The participants of the seminar received information about different PR-instruments and worked out the plans of PR-events for their own coalitions.


    February 9, 2005 Working meeting in the framework of the REACH project.

    Aleksey Starostenko, Program Director and Tatiana Grishina, a psychologist of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the working meeting “The results of the 1st year realization of the projects on development of self-help groups for people living with HIV/AIDS”.  


    February 8, 2005 The Meeting with the representatives of “Amnesty International”   

    The specialists of  “Siberian Initiative” met with the representatives of the International Secretariat of “Amnesty International”. At the meeting the specialists of “Siberian Initiative” presented their work with prisoners,  commercial sex workers and injecting drug users.  


     February 8, 2005 Master-class «Work with expectations of the participants”

    Veniamin Volnov, the chairman of the Board of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” conducted a master-class for the volunteers of the organisation. The master-class was devoted to work with expectations of the participants of the training.

    Round table discussion devoted to the program of reproductive health of adolescents
      

    Aleksey Starostenko, Program Director and Vagaitseva Natalia, Director of Information center of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the Round Table discussion held by the Department of Education of the Administration of the city of Barnaul. The Round Table discussion was devoted to the program of reproductive health of adolescents and youth of the city of Barnaul.   


    January 28, 2005 Nastya Cherkasova is the only representative from Russia at the Consultative Meeting held in Portugal.

    Anastasia Cherkasova, a volunteer of the non-governmental organisation “Siberian Initiative” is taking part in the Consultative Meeting on the 10-Year Review of the World Program of Action for Youth. The Meeting is held in Portugal on January, 31 – February, 3. Anastasia is the only representative from Russia at this Meeting. Anastasia will make a report about the activity of the organisation and All-Russian Summer School for volunteers which is conducted by “Siberian Initiative”.      


    January 28, 2005 Master-class “Creativity” 

    Anastasia Solntseva, PR specialist of the NGO “Siberian Initiative”, conducted a master-class for volunteers of the organisation. The master-class was devoted to creativity. The participants received information about the peculiarities of creative thinking, the techniques of “brain storm” and tried to produce their own short video films  devoted to milk.


    January 25, 2005 Seminar for outreach workers of “Harm reduction program. Barnaul 

    The seminar “Communication skills” aimed at the outreach workers of “Harm reduction program. Barnaul”  was held by Tatiana Grishina, a psychologist of the NGO “Siberian Initiative”. The outreach workers received information about classification of psychological types, methods of getting into contacts with unknown people, indications of sympathy and antipathy, typical gestures and poses. The seminar ended with an art therapy exercise.


    January 25, 2005 National Forum of NGOs working in the sphere of HIV/AIDS in Russian Federation 

    Veniamin Volnov, the chairman of the Board of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” took part in the elective meeting held by National Forum of NGOs of Siberian Federal area.


    January 9, 2005  Holidays in the children’s home № 6

    Volunteers of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” organised  a New Year party for children and teenagers living in the children’s home №6 of the city of Barnaul. This holiday consisted of a new year fairy-tail and different competitions. The volunteers of “Siberian Initiative” gave a toy and sweets as a present to each participant of this holiday.


    January 12, 2005 Assessment of information campaign “HIV-reality. Protect yourself!”

    The specialists of “Siberian Initiative” began to estimate the information campaign “HIV-reality. Protect yourself!” held in 2004 in the framework of the project “Comprehensive Partnership Strategies for HIV/STI Prevention among Young People in the Russian Federation”. To estimate the campaign the specialists of “Siberian Initiative” and youth information centers of the Altai territory will question young people at the age of 15-19. The results will be analyzed at the end of January, 2005.    


    January 12, 2005 Visits to Orenburg and Vologda

    Veniamin Volnov, the chairman of the Board of the NGO “Siberian Initiative” visited Orenburg and Vologda to estimate the level of interaction between different departments and sectors in the sphere of HIV/AIDS. The visits are made to order of the NGO “AIDSinfoshare” in the framework of the project “GLOBE”. The aim of the visits  is to work out proposals and recommendations to Coordination Council on HIV/AIDS of the Ministry of health and social development of Russian Federation.
